I'm going to "Fetih 1453" today :)
johnocallaghans: It’s a movie about my favourite thing in history: the fall of Constantinople :D Could you possibly tell us if its any good when you get back? We’re currently studying the Ottoman Empire in one of my classes and our lecturer showed us the trailer and it looked incredible. I’d love to see it when/if it comes out over here.

back from Kuala Lumpur!
and been to uni all day. Very, very tired right now! Loved KL, its a great place to go if you’ve got a few days. Went up the Petronas towers (amazing view, amazing architecture), to the Batu caves at the same time as a Hindu festival, visited mosques and markets, found a really cool art gallery/bar where we spent our nights, got sunburnt, and flew home in the middle of a lightning storm....

Why is it that my North East Asian politics lecturer is excellent at answering anything Cold War related but just stares at me blankly when I ask something current affairsy about the countries we study? Case one: I ask whether post-Soviet Russian involvment in NE Asia is to do with wanting to influence that region, or to get away from troubles in Europe (used oil and gas dealings as an example)....
